‘Ibua’ is A Swahili word that means ‘to emerge’ or ‘come forth from obscurity. Founded in 2016 by Communications specialist and social entrepreneur Mumbi Ndung’u, Ibua has grown remarkably over the years, providing a voice to youth in Kenya & designing solutions to youth engagement & empowerment.

Ms. Mumbi is the visionary behind Ibua Africa – As the leader, she works to spearhead the enterprise’s direction to fulfill its mission and provide world-class services and work towards global impact.
Mumbi is a Communications Specialist & a social entrepreneur with years of experience in Strategic Communications for Development & Innovation management.
She has worked with several departments of the Government of Kenya such as Cabinet Ministries, the Inspector General of Police’s office & several County Governments.
Prior to Ibua, She worked at the World Bank in Kenya streamlining internal & external communications and engagement with the youth.
For her work in Impacting youth across the regions, she has received recognition as an associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society, Facebook Developers Circle lead in Kenya & Africa Youth Awards for youth empowerment. In 2017 she was named among the Top 100 Most Influential Young Africans.
Currently, she also serves as a Thematic Focal Point Advisor on entrepreneurship for Africa in the United Nations Major Group for Children & Youth.
Mumbi is an Alumni Of Daystar University School of Communications, Strathmore business school + UBC Sauder School of Social entrepreneurship.
Maina Chege is a certified Leadership Communication coach, Media Manager, Part-time Lecturer, Trainer and Producer. He holds a Masters in Corporate Communications from Daystar University and has worked in the mainstream media for the last 10 years in production and Management.
Elvis leyian has over 3 years’ experience training youth on entrepreneurship, financial literacy and life skills. He has been working with an international NGO in Kenya where he has trained over 1000 youth from vulnerable backgrounds and helped them establish small businesses.
Confrey is an expert on innovation strategy & management. He recently set up the WWF Kenya Innovation Programme “Panda-Labs”. He is also is a trained psychologist from Kenyatta University and a fellow of the Amani Institute where he studied social innovation management.
Mercy is a strategy and project design and management Specialist with a focus on development-oriented initiatives. She works in collaboration with different industry experts to help corporates and business owners towards strengthening their presence and impact on social issues through project design, proposal development and proposal evaluation.
Emily brings to the table her strongest personal attributes such as a creative open mind, confidence and insight, which have improved on the clients’ publicity outlook.
She has more than 8 years’ experience in Public Relations, having supported various brands in different organizations.
Stephen is extremely passionate about development and the ability of young people to drive change in their communities. He brings to them team a wealth of knowledge and understanding on designing programs around youth empowerment & stakeholder management.
